- Ormoc City Chapter nominated Vice-mayor Nepomuceno Aparis for the “Excellence
in Public Service Award” category for this year’s Siliman
University Founder’s Day scheduled on August.
In choosing Aparis, the city’s alumni acknowledged
the various contributions and achievements he compiles since 1974, the
year he finished his law course in Siliman.
Vice – mayor Aparis served as President of Ormoc
Supreme Lions Club, President of Ormoc Rainbow Club, President Y.M..C.A.
Ormoc, Western Leyte College legal consultant and member of the board,
President and Chairman of the Board of Sto. Niño College of Ormoc,
College of Criminology Instructor and Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus
.
He was also the Acting Probation Officer of Calbayog
City, Samar in 1977, Trial Attorney of Public Assistance Office from 1978
– 1983, Assistant Provincial Fiscal in Leyte fro 1983 – 1987,
OIC Ormoc City Councilor in 1987, Elected Vice – mayor of Ormoc
in 1988 – 1992, First Chairman of Prople’s Law enforcement
Board (PLEB), elected City councilor for two terms- from 1988 –
2004, and presently serving his second consecutive term as vice mayor.
Aparis likewise is the current Region 8 Chairman of Vice mayors League
of the Philippines .
Alumni President Clint Edjec and the forty registered
members of Siliman Alumni in Ormoc, including the daughter of the vice
mayor are expected to officially informed the vice mayor of his nomination
this coming Sunday – February 7.
Vice mayor Aparis will be vying for the honors alongside
with other nominees from other chapters all over the world. |
